Siege - Drop Dead (1984 / 2006)

Genre: Hardcore Punk / Powerviolence

Normally I couldn't give a shit about Powerviolence, but this album has slayed my testicles like no other PV has before. I believe this is a re-release of their earlier 1984 version of "Drop Dead". I haven't heard the original 84' copy so I can't tell you the difference. What I can tell you is that this album is amazing. The production is great, the songs are super energetic, the music is fun as hell, and the vocals are psychotic. This is definitely a great album to check out regardless if you like PV or not.

Nuclear Death Terror - Ceaseless Desolation (2007)

Genre: Crust / D-Beat

Nuclear Death Terror, the heaviest band I have ever heard in my life. This is the grimmest, darkest, most crushing crust punk you will ever hear. Ceaseless Desolation is right up beside Total Annihilation as NDT's best work. The production on this EP is very thick and heavy, all releases should sound like this. The vocals are extremely dark and possibly the most notable aspect of NDT's sound. I can't recommend this EP enough to any crust fans. It's a fucking masterpiece from every angle.

After The Bombs - Relentless Onslaught (2007)

Genre: Crust Punk / Thrash

Quite a weird band right here, definitely different. After The Bomb's is currently the only female fronted band in my library. The vocals are quite strange, they have large amounts of echo added onto them and are quite low in the mix. Definitely takes time to get used to. Tons of metal influence in the music itself, mainly thrash. A few of the songs tend to drag on past the 5 minute mark. This ones going to be an acquired taste, check it out if your looking for something different.

Guided Cradle - You Will Not Survive (2007)

Genre: Thrash / Crust / D-Beat

Now this is what I have been looking for. Guided Cradle is the most perfect blend of Thrash Metal and Crust Punk I have ever heard, perhaps we may call it Thrust Punk. Take Crust Punk, throw in a handful great thrashy riffs, and you got this album. The highlight of this album has to be the vocals. Perhaps there may have been a period in your Thrash Metal endeavors where you stumbled upon a rather obscure gem of a band called Morbid Scream? This guy sounds almost identical. The production is great, super heavy. I can't explain in text how awesome this album is. You'll have to listen yourself. Totally for fans of Morbid Scream, Instinct Of Survival, Oiltanker, Wolfpack, and Demolition Hammer.

Avskum - In The Spirit Of Mass Destruction (2000)

Genre: Crust Punk / D-Beat

Another killer Avskum album. Not too different from Punkista other than a faster overall tempo. If you put the two albums on one disc it would sound like they were part of the same album. The production here may have a bit more treble. Sticking to the classic Swedish Disbeat sound, fans of Wolfbrigade, Wolfpack, and Victims will not be disappointed.

World Burns To Death - Totalitarian Sodomy (2006)

Genre: Crust / Hardcore Punk

World Burns To Death is quite the band. Super crusty hardcore punk fueled by leftist ideals. What's new? Nothing really, but fuck they kick some serious ass. Possibly one of the catchiest crust bands I have ever heard, WBTD brings forth quite an onslaught of Severed Head Of State-esque tunes. This album tends to be quite similar to SHOS's Power Hazard EP. The production is great, the songs are catchy, the lyrics are pissed, there's not much to criticize this album for. Check it out, you'll enjoy it. WBTD is for fans of Severed Head Of State, Wolfpack, and Toxic Narcotic.

Avskum - Punkista (2003)

Genre: Crust Punk / D-Beat

Avskum is another Swedish Crust Punk band with the classic D-Beat sound. Punkista is easily my favorite release from them. A few songs are in Swedish but the majority are English. The vocals are enthusiastic, guitar tones are fine, everything seems to fit together nicely. Lyrical themes revolve mainly around leftist political views. Definitely a good album for Wolfpack / Wolfbrigade, Behind Enemy Lines, Inepsy, and Victims fans to check out. Enjoy.

Wolfpack - A New Dawn Fades (1996)

Genre: Crust Punk / D-Beat

I've been trying to decide which Wolfpack album I like more, Lycanthro Punk or A New Dawn Fades. It's proving to be quite the task. Regardless, this album is mind blowing. Great heavy and chunky production, some really heavy rhythm section work, super aggressive vocals. Maybe a little less fast-paced than Lycanthro Punk. A lot more focused on being heavy as fuck. One of my favorite crust albums to date. Check it out if you like Wolfbrigade, Avskum, World Burns To Death, or any other catchy crust.

Rehashed - Code Black (2010)

Genre: Thrashcore / Hardcore Punk

Rehashed is a Canadian Thrashcore band from Saskatoon. Their new album Code Black surprised me quite a bit. It's a pretty decent dosage of hardcore, thrash, and punk all rolled up into one. Definitely a good album for fans of Municipal Waste, Mind Eraser, and Iron Lung. Lot's of tasty riffs and hooks here. Decent production as well.

Common Enemy - Living The Dream? (2009)

Genre: Crossover / Thrash

Modern Crossover bands don't get much better than this. This has to be the best Common Enemy release to date. Decent production, extremely energetic vocals, hilarious lyrics, and perhaps 2009's best circle pit soundtrack. All fans of Suicidal Tendencies and Municipal Waste need to check out this band. You will not be disappointed.

Common Enemy - T.U.I. (2006)

Genre: Crossover / Thrash

Common Enemy is a modern Crossover band playing fast-paced / heavily punk inspired crossover. Most similar tunes I could think of would be Cross Examination. High pitched vocals, lyrics about skateboarding, drinking, Ninja Turtles, shark attacks etc. Definitely check it out if you're into shit like Suicidal Tendencies, Nuclear Assault, Ludichrist, and Cross Examination.

Toxic Narcotic - 89 - 99 (2005)

Genre: Hardcore Punk

A hell of a compilation right here. Toxic Narcotic are crazy good. Really catchy, pissed off, nihilistic, crusty, punk. This album pretty much contains all of their best tracks. Maybe a few missing here and there but overall it's essential for anyone who hasn't heard Toxic Narcotic before. A great starter album. Production varies throughout the album.

Victims - Divide & Conquer (2006)

Genre: Hardcore Punk / Crust

This is a pretty weird album folks. It's not much like the other Victims releases that I have heard. It's like a strange combination of Hardcore Punk / Powerviolence / and Crust. It's a really cool album and has a lot of really catchy tracks on it. I would definitely recommend this for fans of Severed Head Of State's Power Hazard LP. The production lacks a certain fullness here, but it works with the sound they are sporting. Give it a listen and decide for yourself.

Victims - ...In Blood (2004)

Genre: Crust / D-Beat

Introducing Victims, one of my favorite crust bands. Haling from Stockholm, Sweden Victims provides a hefty supply of great D-Beat. The production on ...In Blood is great. Definitely check these guys out if your a fan of Wolfbrigade, Wolfpack, Pisschrist, Nuclear Death Terror, or Behind Enemy Lines.

Instinct Of Survival - North Of Nowhere [2009]

Genre: Crust / Death Metal

Instinct Of Survival is new to me. Just recently discovered them while lurking around a crust punk forum a few days ago. Really good crust / stenchcore from Hamburg. It's some really dark and heavy shit. Down tuned guitars, heavy plodding rhythms, borderline death/black metal vocals. They seem to stand out from your regular run of the mill crust bands. They definitely have their own sound going for them. Cool album, cool band, I recommend it for any fans of Nuclear Death Terror, Cop On Fire, and Wolfpack.
